Glimpse into the Future of D&D at Gen Con Indy 2012

Wizards of the Coast is thrilled to announce that its iconic roleplaying game of fantasy and imagination, Dungeons & Dragons®, will offer fans the chance to both explore the notorious drow race in the current Rise of the Underdark campaign, as well as glimpse into the future of the game at this year’s Gen Con Indy 2012 (August 16 – 19).

Wizards of the Coast will show off the latest D&D offerings (Booth #1401) and invite fans to awaken the darkness as they delve into the D&D Experience, a series of eight unique locations thematically tied to the drow city of Menzoberranzan, where they can participate in an abundance of D&D events and activities and earn exclusive dice along the way. Wizards of the Coast is also proud to host the first-ever Gen Con keynote address on August 16, the opening night of the convention, to present a look into the future of D&D.

D&D AT GEN CON INDY 2012:

    The D&D Experience – Rise of the Underdark (Ongoing; Multiple Locations)

    Throughout the convention center, fans can visit eight unique D&D locations set within the drow city of Menzoberranzan to collect treasure and participate in a variety of D&D activities – including D&D Next playtesting and Dungeon Command gaming sessions, just to name a few.     In-Booth Activities (Ongoing; Booth #1401)

    The Dungeons & Dragons Booth #1401 (The Bazaar) will be the hub of information and commerce where fans can purchase D&D merchandise, learn about the current Rise of the Underdark campaign and the drow plot to seize the Forgotten Realms, experience D&D’s digital offerings and take photos with Lolth, Demon Queen of Spiders, and Drizzt Do’Urden, the most famous drow of all time. Additionally, fans will have the opportunity to meet some of their favorite D&D authors during scheduled in-booth author signings.

    Keynote Address (Thursday, August 16 at 7 pm; Indiana Roof Ballroom)

    At the “Future of Dungeons & Dragons,” the first-ever Gen Con keynote, some of the greatest creative minds in the industry, including Mike Mearls (Senior Manager, Dungeons & Dragons R&D) and Greg Leeds (President and CEO of Wizards of the Coast), will share a behind-the- curtain look into the future of the brand – from the game’s evolution and the rebirth of a fantasy setting, to the next generation of art. Wizards of the Coast is proud to be able to share with the legions of D&D fans what’s in store for the game that has changed gaming forever.
