Someone seeing you use your abilities really doesn't affect them in Godlike (I played Mage for a while, so I know what you are talking about with that game). It is more a matter of "shoot at the guy firing flames from his eyes" and the fact that bullets can still kill most characters.

The Talents do have the ability to negate one another's powers in a test of Will, provided those powers directly affect them. So if you could kill with a look, and I knew that, I could stop you from killing me when you looked at me. But if you were flying, I couldn't make you fall from the sky, because that doesn't directly affect me. You could still fly up there and shoot at me, and I could still shoot you down or throw a tank at you (and if you saw me getting ready to throw a tank, you couldn't counter that with Will, because the power is affecting the tank, not you).

Hope that makes more sense.

How the miracles work in Godlike sounds quite a bit like how you had to use Magik in 1st edition Mage. If anyone saw you using them, you suffered fairly harsh 'paradox' consequences.
