Mutant Cannibal Dinos Promise Ferocious Fun

Kickstarter Launched For New Card Game Velociraptor! Cannibalism!

Raptors in monocles and silly hats graft strange body parts to themselves and eat their own kind. That might seem like an odd premise for a game, but the team behind Velociraptor! Cannibalism! thinks gamers will love playing these vicious and rather stylish dinosaurs. Based on a crude and inaccurate understanding of natural selection, this game pits players against each other as they devour adorable animals, steal eggs, and eat their own bodies to survive. This card game with a twisted sense of humor was created by six game designers who met for the first time at IGDA Philly’s Global Game Jam site in January. In 48 sleepless hours, Velociraptor! Cannibalism! was born. After a wildly enthusiastic reception, the team wants to bring a polished finished product to the unsuspecting public.

Although the game’s design is complete, more than 100 unique cards must be illustrated to truly bring the team’s vision to life. The official Velociraptor! Cannibalism! Kickstarter launched on February 20th. If the team is successful in reaching their goal of $4,000, this funding will allow talented co-designer and illustrator, Jennifer Rodgers, and brilliant graphic designer, Daniel Solis, to create the artwork needed to finish the game. With over a thousand dollars raised on their first day, the team is confident that they can bring this strange and silly creation to their supporters.

Rewards for the Kickstarter include demo versions of the game, digital distribution of the final product, Kickstarter exclusive characters and more. If the team exceeds their goal and reaches $4,500, a new reward level will be released and unlimited physical copies of the game complete with fully illustrated cards, character sheets and game mat will be made available.

I was randomly poking around and found your review here of our game and I thought I’d let you (and future readers) know that not only have we hit our $4000 goal, we’ve blown past it.

As of this writing, we’re at 470% and have been climbing at a steady $800 a day for the last week or so, ever since we got featured in Kickstarter’s weekly newsletter.

Physical copies are up for $48 ($58 international) and there’s a poll on Facebook to decide the theme of the expansion we’ll be doing. Expect another update around Monday/Tuesday (March 19/20) when we announce other rewards and bonuses.
