There is "some" violence associated with war, but there isn't anything related to drugs, sex (or rock and roll). The artwork is over-the-top, done in almost a painting style, so the violence isn't cartoonish at all. I think that this would be a good addition to a YA library because it focuses on the choices a hero has to make.
