A New Take on Dracula from Cryptic Canticles

Posted By Flames On June 21, 2017 @ 1:13 pm In Articles | No Comments

It’s difficult to imagine a fresh take on Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Over the years there have been radio and stage plays, movies, comics, collectible and illustrated editions. These transformative works are both a testimony to the power of the original story and its form as an epistolary novel. Now, because Dracula is the public domain, other writers and performers can freely create transformative works as both a commentary on the original manuscript, but also to revive what we love about Dracula.

Enter Cryptic Canticles [1], whose own story and connection to the work is fascinating. They had decided to re-read the entries in chronological order, and were inspired to produce a “>Dracula radio play [2] replete with special effects. Now, you can watch their progress on their website, YouTube!, or subscribe via iTunes as they perform the entire work in chronological order.

If you’d like to hear a sample of the project, listen to Dracula Episode One performed by Cryptic Canticles in this post or on YouTube! [3]. Or, for more information, you can haunt crypticcanticles.com [1].
