“The colorful art style and fast pace makes Dungeon Mayhem perfect for introducing new fans to D&D,” said Nathan Stewart, director of D&D. “In the time it took me to dictate this quote to my underlings, I’ve already thrown two dagger cards at Shelly Mazzanoble and blocked incoming damage from both the paladin and wizard. Onyx Path Publishing and DriveThruRPG Launch “Slarecian Vault” for Scarred Lands

Posted on May 3, 2018 by

Onyx Path Publishing is partnering with DriveThruRPG to allow independent content creators to publish material in the Slarecian Vault utilizing the OGL for both Pathfinder and Dungeons & Dragons Fifth Edition editions of existing and future Scarred Lands books produced by Onyx Path.

A world known to its inhabitants as Scarn, the Scarred Lands is a place of dynamic heroism, supreme villainy, and incalculable magic. Torn and twisted by battles between the titans and their children, the young gods —fought largely by monstrous titanspawn pitted against humans, elves, dwarves, and other “divine races” — Scarn is a world still wounded deeply by the Divine War that took place less than two centuries ago.

“Scarred Lands is a gem of a setting that’s flush with opportunities for great storytelling, adventuring, and good, old-fashioned monster hunting,” says Scarred Lands developer, Monica Valentinelli. “With this setting, there’s an unlimited potential for creators to explore Scarn by offering new classes, races, and more!”

Designing Battle for the Undercity a D&D 5E Adventure

Posted on February 19, 2016 by

Over the years, I’ve worked on (and have played) a lot of games with folks from every corner of the industry, but I’ve never had the opportunity to write for Dungeons and Dragons. Battle for the Undercity (5E) is a release that changed all that thanks to dmsguild.com. Today, I’d like to share with you my process for designing this adventure.

The first thing I did was review the adventure structure. Having played D&D 5E, I understood how important that was but, at the same time, I wanted to put my own twist on it. After I read the DMs Guild Creator Adventure Template and refreshed my memory by referencing Hoard of the Dragon Queen and Rise of Tiamat, I came up with a plan. I wanted to design a location and fitting monster variants that could be used in any Forgotten Realms campaign, in part because of my own experiences playing D&D. By tapping into the two elements every city tends to have which, in this case, was the undercity (sewers, worked tunnels, etc.) and a tavern, I felt DMs could use Battle for the Undercity as a break between campaigns or intense sessions.

Battle for the Undercity takes place underground in a section of a major city. The party will navigate sewers, worked tunnels, forgotten crypts, and freshly dug passageways to fend off adversaries in order to rescue hostages and return them safely to the surface unharmed. Can your party emerge victorious and save the day?

Dungeon Masters Guild Opens as a Marketplace for D&D Creations

Posted on January 12, 2016 by

Dungeons & Dragons is all about creativity. For more than 40 years, the folks who spent the bulk of their time creating amazing adventures, those noble Dungeon Masters, did not have a convenient outlet to share them with the gamers who weren’t sitting at their table. You either had to raise money to publish a physical book or zine on your own, or convince a publisher you had the chops.

Now, the Dungeon Master’s Guild puts the power to share that creativity firmly in the hands of the DM.

Archmage, the first book in a new series by R.A. Salvatore

Posted on September 15, 2015 by

The pall that had descended over the North is gone, and a new day has dawned on a victorious Mithral Hall, but no matter how bright things seem on the surface, Drizzt and his companions know that what lurks just under their feet remains steeped in evil and charged with unimaginable power.

The dark elves of Menzoberranzan, including the powerful Archmage Gromph, aren’t done with Drizzt yet. And consumed by their own power struggles, feeling backed into a corner, the drow may just be desperate enough to call on demonic forces from the deepest reaches of the Abyss, and unleash a disaster even the Underdark could never have prepared for.
